It is an unprecedented time in our country’s history that has placed the entire world in uncharted territory. As a passionate brand that is deeply rooted in our market and community, we immediately asked ourselves, "How can we help?". So, we turned to our original tagline, “How much effort do you give?” and realized that it is more relevant now than ever. Regardless of brand, athletic ability, accomplishment, role or competition, we employed this tagline to call upon our community to stand together for humanity in the fight against COVID-19. To drive this initiative, we introduced #100percenttogether; a campaign that has been shared across the world.
Early on we identified the need for high-quality performance eyewear to protect those on the front lines. So we launched Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), a range of high-quality performance eyewear constructed of the finest materials; including scratch resistant interchangeable lenses, durable frames and ultra-grip rubber nose and temple pads. Over 1000 pairs of our PPE products were donated to front-line workers in highly infected areas. As the demand has continued to grow, an additional 1000 pairs are being allocated to areas in need across the continent.
To reach even further, we aligned with other industry brands to collaborate and create “Goggles for Docs,” a donation program encouraging others to offer new and used goggles and help fulfill the immense need in hospitals for PPE. Even more, we're donating 10,000 of our PPE-specific lenses, which are nearly impossible to fog, to front line workers in demanding conditions. 100% serves as the official drop-off location for this effort, and over 2,450 donations have been made. In the month of April, a 50% off code was also offered to for those on the front-lines a token of our appreciation.
On a national level, we joined the Brand X Better coalition to show our commitment in providing aid during this time of crisis; pledging our commitment to alleviate the social and economical impact of COVID-19 in our communities. To contribute on a global level, 100% partnered with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to support on-the-ground needs of public health responders by donating 20% of all web sales. Today’s donation announcement will be paired with the $67,000 donated to the CDC Foundation’s Combat Coronavirus fundraiser throughout March and April, and the donation of more than $390,000 in PPE protective eyewear and goggles to hospitals and first responders, brings 100%’s total COVID-19 response close to a half-million dollars.
Continuing the battle against the pandemic that has swept the world by storm, we have pledged to Scrub the Curve by staying in place and social distancing to do our part in this unfamiliar time. Pick up one of these limited-edition tees and 100% of proceeds will go to the Outdoor Foundation, the giving arm of Outdoor Industry Association. The funds will go directly to their new initiative, Thrive Outside, and focus on getting kids and their families outside throughout several communities, including the backyard of 100%, San Diego, California.
While we understand that new challenges will lie before us as we cross the finish line, we will continue to seek and engage in ways that can make a positive impact and contribution to what will be our new normal.
