‘Under the Same Light’ featuring Jett Lawrence, Cooper Webb and the 2025 Paris Supercross

Between championship seasons, when most athletes retreat into training facilities and private test tracks, two of American Supercross’s fiercest title contenders chose to keep their race craft sharp at the 2025 Paris Supercross—an event whose 42‑year legacy has made it one of the sport’s true crown jewels.

Jett Lawrence and Cooper Webb are two icons of a sport defined by passion, pressure, and relentless precision—with four AMA 450 Supercross championships between them (Lawrence: 2024; Webb: 2019, 2021, 2025). Meeting on “neutral ground” at the 2025 Paris Supercross for an off‑season tune‑up race feels anything but casual.

The Paris Supercross is widely regarded as the most important and prestigious Supercross event outside the United States, and it has held that status for decades. Paris has hosted a major Supercross every year since 1984, making it the longest‑running international SX event.

Side by Side, Sharpening  the Same Edge

“Not a lot of people get to do [this] for their job,” says 22-year-old Lawrence. “So you got to enjoy it when you can—obviously, it doesn’t last forever.”

The film “Under the Same Light” steps inside that moment—following the emotional rhythm of two athletes sharpening themselves in real time, side by side, under the lights of one of motorsport’s most storied arenas.

Where Rivals Become Mirrors

“I’ve joked: if it wasn’t for Jett Lawrence, I’d have way more wins or championships,” says Webb, the reigning 2025 AMA 450 Supercross Champ.

Through intimate soundbites, unguarded moments, and the mutual respect of two peer champions sharing the same space, this mini documentary (WATCH THE VIDEO) offers a rare look at the off‑season not as downtime, but as an iron‑sharpening‑iron moment. A place where confidence is maintained, rivalries simmer, and the next title fight quietly begins.

Paris Supercross: 2 Nights, 1 Crown

The two-night event inside Paris La Défense Arena carried that unmistakable mix of spectacle and tension—lights low, anticipation high, and a track layout that rewarded precision as much as raw aggression. The whoops were sharp, the rhythms demanding impeccable timing, and any mistake felt amplified beneath the dome of Europe’s largest indoor venue.

“The track this year is definitely a bit challenging. The whoops have been super, super big this year. They’re always big, but they took a level up this year,” says Webb, “[And] just some tricky rhythm sections. Normally, there’s a bit more ruts. It seems [the dirt] is a little drier this year, so you’re kind of fighting in some places with traction. But it’s always still a really good track, and it’s actually really close to the U.S. [Supercross events].”

Across the startgate, a stacked roster of international talent added to the electricity: seasoned American heavy‑hitters, rising European specialists hungry to prove themselves on home soil, and a handful of global stars using Paris as their first real test of off‑season form. It wasn’t just another exhibition; every lap carried the weight of pride on a world stage with rivalries ever-present and legacies challenged—because as the phrase goes: “You’re only as good as your last race.”

“Yeah, I still get ‘the butterflies’ before a race—still a little nervous,” admits Webb. “Even yesterday [night #1 of competition], I led half of the first race, and I got massive arm pump and it’s like, ‘Dang,’ you know, you get those nervous feelings again.”

Crashes and Clashes

Stripping the spectacle down to its bare components, the “Under the Same Light” documentary’s saturated black‑and‑white sequences removes the familiar colors of brands and teams, helping the viewer to dissolve identity into motion. What remains is the raw essence of Supercross: the choreography of the machines and the pulse of a stadium that seemed to breathe with every twist of the throttle—a prelude of a continued rivalry among champions.

“It’s honestly really fun, right? You chase that adrenaline feeling—at least I do,” says Webb. “I love racing. You know, that’s the part for me that’s really, really fun. So to go out here and race some of the best guys in the world is a great opportunity.”

The French crowd were treated to a masterclass from Supercross’s best. For two nights in November 2025, Lawrence, Webb and fellow AMA 450 SX main event winners like Malcolm Stewart—who was eventually crowned the 2025 “King of Paris” Supercross—ran individual hot laps around La Défense Arena in exciting Superpole events, dogfought Sprint races and battled rigorous Final motos.

“It’s honestly really cool to [race] with someone like Cooper,” says Lawrence. “His experience in his craft. It’s cool to learn [from], cool to race with him because he races clean. He’s smart. He’s a hustler.”

Prelude to 2026

As the two AMA 450 Supercross title contenders exit Paris and turn their attention to the upcoming 2026 championship fight, personal evaluation and competitive speculation ensues…

“The U.S. right now is so stacked with so many great riders from different ages, past champions, a lot of race winners,” says Webb. “I mean on any given night, there’s truly ten or so riders that could go win a main event.

“I know what I can bring to the table. I bring a lot of consistency. I can stay in the championship for all 17 rounds. And that’s what I try to do each and every year.

Motocross superstars Jett Lawrence and Cooper Webb shake hands on the main stage at the Paris Supercross.

“I believe Jett will be one of the greatest to ever do it when it’s all said and done,” says Webb. “It’s cool that I can say one day that I raced him as hard as I have.”

“When it matters, [Webb] is there,” says Lawrence, “So I think, once we get to Supercross in America he’s going to be good, like he always is.”
