The tides seem to be shifting in the 450 class as Marvin Musquin takes the win and points lead, while Aaron Plessinger extends his at Redbud.

The world renowned Redbud national brought the heat this year, both literally and figuratively. Temperatures soaring above 100 degrees, proved to test the riders physically and mentally as the racing itself provided fans with a true show on the fourth of July weekend.

The story of the weekend lied within the 450 class, where our man Marvin Musquin went 2-1 and was the first rider to take an overall from the Kawi rider, Eli Tomac. Marvin’s successful weekend of consistency catapulted him not only with the most points of the weekend, but slotted him three points in the overall lead. He will head into next weekend with the points lead and the coveted red plate.

Supercross rookie of the year, Chase Sexton, hasn’t had exactly the results he has wanted, but an 11-6 for sixth overall isn’t too bad for his first full year. We know what he is capable of, and know that he will get where he wants to be.

Ap, got off to another dominant weekend with a 1-1 for the overall. He saw some pressure, but walked away with both moto wins. Aaron Plessinger extended his points lead significantly wearing his favorite pair of Accuri goggles.

Larocco’s Leap, what a spectacle. Though it is jumped more in the 450 class, riders have to get everything out of their bikes to hit this massive jump. Aaron Plessinger consistently jumped passed riders each moto, as he was one of the few that hit it every lap. Fans line the track, sometimes 30 deep just to watch this huge send.

Justin Cooper continues to turn heads this year as a rookie as well. He stomped down another 5th overall and sits comfortably in the top 5 overall.

Cooper Webb on the other hand, continues to build with a 7-7. It is only his second race back after a devastating wrist injury late in the supercross season. He is racing himself back into shape and is already putting up solid results. Expect more from him in the near future.

Dylan Ferrandis continues to quietly set fast times and lay down good results. Another 3rd overall for him, shows that he certainly is gelling with the bike.
